Fotoblog Gumbo

While I was taking a long exposure of Hoover Dam (see image below), Signe spotted this fox on a cliff next to the parking area. Maybe he was waiting for us to leave so he could raid the trash cans. I told Signe to "baby talk" him a bit, and sure enough, he came a little closer, about 25 feet from us. He had a long, bushy tail, sort of like our trash cat family pet.

Tech notes: Since I was testing my new D3, I cranked the ISO up to 12,800 (no, seriously!) to get this at 1/60th, f/2.8 at 200mm. No flash, this is ambient darkness (just a little light from the parking lot). Sweet!
